These switches come in two structural designs: MBB contact type and BBM contact type. The MBB contact type is characterized by the moving contact being in contact with both the preceding and following contacts during switching. It then disconnects the preceding contact while maintaining contact with the following contact. The BBM contact type, on the other hand, involves the moving contact first disconnecting the preceding contact during switching, then connecting the following contact. During this transition, there is a period where both the preceding and following contacts are disconnected.
